Warzone Season 2 is on the horizon and it’s set to bring plenty of new content to explore. Players have high hopes for the Warzone Season 2 update, so here’s when it’s expected to start and everything it could bring, including The Walking Dead crossover.
The Warzone Season 1 Reloaded update was a major overhaul with the return of the Champion’s Quest, weapon buffs and nerfs, as well as changes to the Gulag. Next up for Warzone players is the Season 2 update, which will bring even more content to the battle royale.
Season 2 is set to follow shortly after Season 1 Reloaded, so here’s everything we know so far about Warzone Season 2, including its expected release date.
Warzone Season 2 expected release date
The devs are yet to officially confirm the exact release date, but we expect Warzone Season 2 to begin on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. This is when the Season 1 Battle Pass timer found in-game is currently scheduled to end.
In the past, new Warzone seasons have rolled out on the same day that the previous one ends, which makes February 7 the most likely date. However, updates have occasionally been delayed, so everything is subject to change.
January 25 reports revealed that several Call of Duty studios were impacted by a significant round of layoffs at Microsoft. Raven Software and other studios working on Warzone were affected by the layoffs and it remains to be seen if this will alter the release of the Season 2 update.
The Season 2 update will bring even more content to Urzikstan.
The Walking Dead crossover coming in Warzone Season 2
The Warzone devs have confirmed that a Walking Dead crossover is arriving in Season 2, bringing iconic characters Rick Grimes and Michonne to the game. This comes as a tie-in with the new spin-off series, The Ones Who Live, which picks up after both left the main show in seasons 9 and 10 respectively.
Not much else has been revealed about the collaboration, but players can expect Operator skins for both Grimes and Michonne, featuring the likeness of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, with a themed event also likely.
Fortune’s Keep returns in Warzone Season 2
Following a handful of leaks and teases, the popular Fortune’s Keep is also set to return in Warzone Season 2. The Resurgence map can be seen in the background of The Walking Dead teaser video, revealing that its long-awaited comeback is finally here.
It’s unclear right now if Fortnune’s Keep will replace either Ashika Island or Vondel on the rotation, or if all three will be available at once.
