Call of Duty shared the MW3 and Warzone Season 2 promo art confirming that The Walking Dead will be the next major crossover to arrive, which will feature fan-favorite characters being introduced as playable Operators.
Season 1 Reloaded for Warzone and MW3 is coming to a close, but it brought a ton of content for players to unlock, including the return of the Champion’s Quest. However, this is set to expand with the Season 2 update.
While collaborative Call of Duty Operators aren’t a new concept, with characters like Alucard, Skeletor, and Ash Williams making their way into the game. MW3 Season 2 is set to further expand the roster with a brand-new crossover.
Following several leaks hinting at the possibility of a Call of Duty x The Walking Dead crossover, Call of Duty have now confirmed that MW3 and Warzone will receive Rick Grimes as an Operator for Season 2.
Also, The Walking Dead x Call of Duty’s teaser trailer revealed that Michonne was confirmed to arrive alongside Grimes. Set to premiere on February 25, 2024, The Walking Dead spinoff series ‘The Ones Who Live’ stars characters Rick Grimes and Michonne, which fans think is the reason behind the crossover.
The original The Walking Dead series premiered in 2010 and has since garnered a massive fan base. Players in the comments were pleased to hear of the crossover coming to life with one saying: “Hitting clips while being Rick Grimes might be one of the best things Activision has done.”
Given the wording of Call of Duty’s official X post, it’s expected that the crossover will feature some Zombies-themed content, as seen in the teaser trailer, that would fit perfectly with The Walking Dead.
