Will Black Ops 6 be on PS4 & Xbox One?

If you’re wondering whether Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, here’s everything you need to know.

Following months of speculation and a cryptic marketing campaign, Activision finally confirmed on May 23 that the next title in the Call of Duty series will be Black Ops 6. It will, of course, be available for current-gen consoles, but what about the last generation?

We’re almost four years into the current generation, but the series has yet to leave the previous one behind. Here’s whether Black Ops 6 changes that.

Will Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 be released on PS4 & Xbox One?

According to GameStop listings for Black Ops 6 preorders, it’ll be released on PlayStation 4. While the listing does not mention Xbox One, a separate report from Insider Gaming said that the title will be available on Xbox One.

Insider Gaming also said that the leaked image is indeed true and that Black Ops 6 will be a cross-generation title like the past few entries in the series.

While developers are yet to confirm the platforms it’ll be available on, it isn’t surprising that the series isn’t ditching past-gen consoles. Past four CoD games, starting with Black Ops Cold War, are available on all cross-gen platforms, including last year’s Modern Warfare 3.

Microsoft also signed a 10-year agreement with Nintendo Switch on February 2023, to bring CoD to Nintendo’s handheld. Insider Gaming suggests CoD will arrive on the handheld starting with the next iteration of the Nintendo Switch, so the current Nintendo console will miss on Black Ops 6.

Nintendo Switch is rumored to launch next year, and we already have leaks on Call of Duty 2025, which is rumored to be another Black Ops title and a direct sequel to B02. For Black Ops 6, we’ll learn more about it in the June Xbox Games Showcase.
