The next MW3 and Warzone Vortex event, titled Vi.Rus mainframe has been announced, giving players even more free rewards to grind for. Here’s the start date for Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 Vortex Virus Mainframe, as well as how to earn the cosmetics.
Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 3 has been jam-packed with events already, from the Godzilla x Kong crossover to Blaze Up and High Trip. But, there’s still time for more ahead of Season 3 Reloaded, as the latest Vortex event, Vi.Rus Mainframe, has been confirmed.

MW3 & Warzone Vortex: Virus Mainframe event start date
The Warzone and MW3 Vortex Virus Mainframe event will begin on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM BST. This is the same day and time that the Blaze Up and High Trip events come to an end.
It hasn’t been confirmed how long the latest Vortex event will last, but given that the Season 3 mid-season update is due on May 1, just one week seems the most likely. However, we’ll be sure to update this section once we know more.
How to get free rewards in MW3 & Warzone Vortex: Vi.Rus Mainframe
MW3 and Warzone players will simply have to earn XP to unlock free rewards in the Vortex Virus Mainframe event. While the previous Vortex Decay’s Realm came with a set of specific challenges, Virus Mainframe will follow in the footsteps of War’s Domain and reward fans for just playing the game.
XP is earned by completing matches in either MW3 or Warzone and, of course, the more kills and wins you rack up the more points you’ll earn. During the event, each game will contribute to your overall total, with free rewards being locked behind certain milestones.
If you want to speed up the grind, a bonus 1000 XP will also be awarded for each match completed with the Bacillus skin equipped, which can only be obtained by purchasing the Vi.Rus Ultra Skin Tracer Pack.
MW3 & Warzone Vortex: Virus Mainframe event expected rewards
The rewards for the Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Vortex: Virus Mainframe event haven’t been revealed just yet, but we expect there to be a new camo for grabs. Based on previous events, including past versions of Vortex, each milestone will feature a small reward, before a free camo is unlocked for completing each one.
These prizes usually include:
- Calling Cards
- Emblems
- Weapon Stickers
- Large Decals
- Weapon Charms
- Double XP Tokens
