Modern Warfare 3 Season 5 Reloaded is set to be the next major update to hit multiplayer, but when is it due to arrive?

The Season 5 update was a major content drop, bringing with it new weapons like the STG44 and Static-HV, as well WWE-themed Battle Pass. But, there’s plenty more in store when the mid-season patch rolls around.

MW3 Season 5 Reloaded release date

The Modern Warfare 3 Season 5 Reloaded update will drop on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. This is based on the Classified Sector of the Battle Pass, which according to the in-game timer is set to unlock on this date.

Although this date hasn’t been officially confirmed by the devs, in the past every mid-season update has been tied to Classified Sector, so we expect the same to be true this time around. Of course, plans could always change and the patch could be moved forward or back, so we’ll update this section once we know more.

New weapons in MW3 Season 5 Reloaded

The mid-season update comes with two new weapons for players to unlock, the Spear and Torque 35. First, there’s the Spear melee weapon, which can be unlocked by completing challenges listed in the Classified BP Sector mentioned earlier.

It looks set to be a unique addition to multiplayer, as according to the Season 5 blog: “Three Spears are provided at each spawn; they throw fast and straight, with a reticle provided to account for various distances. Thrown Spears can be retrieved from the environment and at least one should be kept for the weapon’s rapid piercing strikes in close quarters.”

The second new arrival is the Torque 35, a “compound bow with 20 retrievable arrows” and a built-in red dot sight. As you’d expect, holding down the trigger increases the force of each shot and there are some “creative” ammo types to experiment with.

Both of these new weapons can also pin enemies to a wall if you place your shots correctly, which could open the door for some interesting plays.

New game modes

Fishfection

Three fresh game modes are being added in MW3 Season 5 Reloaded, the first of which is Fishfection. This is a spin on regular Infection where you’re armed with the new Spear and Torque 35, and they need to survive against a horde of fish Operators that grows with every fallen player.

Paintball

In Paintball, all weapons are replaced with paint guns and are an instant one-shot kill. All players are also given increased movement as they battle it out on small maps in classic modes like Kill Confirmed or Capture the Flag.

Defuse or Destroy

Search and Destroy is one of Call of Duty’s most iconic modes, but Defuse or Destroy adds an extra layer of chaos. At the start of each round, one of the two bomb sites is already planted, forcing you to decide whether to rush in for a defuse or defend the last remaining location.

Final story mission & new Dark Aether Rift

Season 5 Reloaded finally delivers the last story mission in MWZ, bringing Operation Deadbolt’s journey to an end. Little is known about the final just yet, but the devs have teased that you’ll “use Aetherium launch pads to soar through the environment and keep away from the dangerous hordes of undead lurking on the ground.”

This will culminate in an epic boss battle, which provides the first item needed to access the next Dark Aether Rift.

Schematics

Zombies players can also look forward to three new Schematics to help them battle hordes of the undead:

• Disciple Bottle: Spawn a friendly Disciple to wreak havoc against your foes.
• Grenade Bandolier: Replenish your Lethal and Tactical Equipment over time, allowing you to regularly bombard enemies.
• Stash Increase: Increase your stash size to 30. Get lootin’.

MW3 Season 5 Reloaded is also set to bring a ton of weapon buffs and nerfs, which could drastically alter the meta and which guns are the best for Ranked Play.
