MW3 Zombies players are getting new content in Season 4 Reloaded, as the update introduces players to Unstable Rifts.
This new feature brings an element of classic Zombies to MW3, so if you want to prepare for Black Ops 6‘s round-based experience, here’s everything you need to know about Unstable Rifts, which arrives with the mid-season patch on June 26.
Unstable Rifts explained
These are new rifts in MWZ that appear for players on the map during a match. Players will need to race to them to be the first to enter, and once in, you will participate in a “new wave-based combat challenge.”
If a squad beats you to a rift, don’t worry, there will be more opportunities to locate and enter one during a game.
MW3 Zombies is finally getting some new content.
The CoD blog states that “not everything works as it does elsewhere” in these Unstable Rifts, and some items are granted, while others are taken away. You will receive some impressive loot and a maxed-out Pack-A-Punch weapon once you enter, as well as some free Perks and upgrades to help you overcome the waves.
Unstable Rift rewards
If you manage to beat the waves, the cooldown of all your insured weapons and schematics will be reset.
This means that you can head straight into your next Modern Warfare 3 Zombies match with all your best gear without having to wait for cooldowns. If you fail, you will not receive any rewards and will need to find another Unstable Rift if you wish to complete it.
The wave-based gameplay will be similar to the classic round-based experience, which Black Ops 6 will be bringing back. If you want to know more, check out our guide on Black Ops 6 Zombies, as well as how to watch CoD Next.
