Warzone’s best guns hit with major nerfs in Season 5 Reloaded

Warzone Season 5 Reloaded introduced plenty of weapon balancing changes in an effort to shake up the meta. It appears the update has done just that as two of the guns that have dominated this season have been hit with major nerfs.

After both were added at the start of Season 5, the STG44 and Static-HV have been considered the two strongest guns in the entire game. The WW2 Assault Rifle has been the king of long-range fights, while the SMG has blown away the competition at close range.

The Static-HV, in particular, has been hit hard by the mid-season patch, receiving a nerf to its damage range across the board as well as a reduction to its headshot, leg, and foot modifiers. Most notably, the near-mid damage range has dropped from 30.48 to 25.4 meters and the headshot damage bonus has gone from 1.4x to 1.2x.

What all this means is the SMG’s most effective damage range has been reduced by five meters, meaning it’s no longer as viable at mid-range. The headshot change also significantly reduces the close-range TTK, allowing other guns in its class to compete, such as the Superi 46.

Static-HV SMG Warzone Season 5

The Static-HV has been the best SMG in Warzone throughout Season 5.

Meanwhile, the STG44 was handed a flat nerf, which sees the maximum damage reduced from 36 down to 32. So, no matter how far away you are, where your shots land, and which attachments you’re running, the Assault Rifle can’t take away more than 34 health per shot.

Just like the Static, this will have a huge impact on its time-to-kill in all situations and close the gap between the STG and other meta contenders like the SVA 545.

Only time will tell how drastically these guns will be affected by the nerfs and whether they can maintain their popularity. Either way, don’t be surprised to see ARs like the MCW and SMGs like the FJX Horus appear more regularly in the lead-up to Warzone Season 6.

However, if you’re more of a multiplayer fan, you don’t need to worry about either of these nerfs, as both guns have been left untouched in MW3.
