Modern Warfare 3 is celebrating the start of Season 4 Reloaded with the Retro Warfare event, giving you the chance to earn a host of free rewards.
The mid-season update brings plenty of new multiplayer content, including the Reclaimer 18 Shotgun, but the one catching players’ eye is the Bit Party mode. The devs are doubling down on this pixel-themed mode with the Retro Warfare event, so here’s the start date and how it all works.
Start & end date
MW3’s Retro Warfare event begins on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, and runs until Wednesday, July 3. This means it goes live as soon as Season 4 Reloaded is released and gives you a full week to grind for every reward.
It will replace the Fallout: Vault Dwellers event that was ongoing towards the end of the first half of Season 4.

How to earn rewards
You can get free rewards during the MW3 Retro Warfare event by simply playing matches and earning XP. While some in-game events come with specific objectives that need to be ticked off, this is one of the easier challenges that rewards you for playing as normal.
The Season 4 Reloaded blog revealed there are 10 different rewards up for grabs, each of which is tied to a different milestone. XP is calculated after every match and you’ll unlock the prizes once you’ve racked up enough.
If you want to speed up the process, the devs also explained that an XP “boost” would be given to anyone with an Operator from the Tracer Pack: 8-Bit Blitz Bundle equipped. They haven’t specified how big the boost will be, but based on previous events it’s likely to be 2,500 XP per match.
Expected rewards
We won’t know exactly what the rewards for the Retro Warfare event will be until it begins, but the last and main one is expected to be a pixel-themed camo. Aside from that, here’s what else is likely to be up for grabs:
- Calling Cards
- Emblems
- Large Decals
- Weapon Stickers
- Charms
- Double XP Tokens

Season 4 Reloaded is a huge update for Modern Warfare 3, not just bringing the Bit Party Modem but also introducing players to the Mutation and Havoc game modes, as well as the new Sledgehammer weapon.
