Warzone players sick of “garbage” playlist updates removing essential modes

Warzone features a variety of different playlists, but the ones available in-game change with each weekly update, and players are tired of being left unable to play when their preferred core mode isn’t on offer.
Warzone supports a number of different ways to play, whether you prefer the wide open spaces of Urzikstan or the more frantic action of Vondel or Fortune’s Keep. Plus, new varieties are being added all the time, with Ranked Resurgence dropping in the Season 2 update.
Within each game mode, fans have the choice to decide which squad size they want to tackle, ranging from Solos up to Quads. However, weekly playlist updates are constantly rotating which are available.
As pointed out by Warzone player ‘TheHawksfire’ on Reddit, the February 22 playlist update removed the option for Duos in battle royale matches, and the devs have confirmed it won’t return until March 7 at the earliest.
Of course, they still have access to the larger playlists, but they would have to find more friends to join their squads or fill with randoms. This prompted a number of replies from fans who normally play as a pair, who claimed they’ve been left with no real option but to abandon the game until Duos returns.
“Me and my duo got 5 wins in a row for the first time last night. Planned to do our Nuke contract tonight. NOPE,” said one reply, before another added: “It’s garbage. Me and my brother [switched] over to Helldivers 2 until it comes back.”
This went on to spark a debate about whether core options like BR Duos should be removed in Warzone, with most feeling that limiting the size of squads that can play the main modes is a “ridiculous” decision.
“Why can’t they just leave core solos, duos, trios and quads in permanently? I don’t understand the constant need to remove playlists that tons of people enjoy,” argued one player, with a second agreeing: “Such a terrible decision. Core modes should never be removed for LTMs.”
Others speculated that adding and removing playlists could be related to the player count as the devs look to speed up matchmaking times.
Another replay added: “My bet is as less players play the game, the drop modes to keep wait times in check. No facts to support this, it was always just my assumption.”
Players can rest assured that their preferred playlist, like Duos, will always come back eventually. But with even more modes likely to come in Warzone Season 2 Reloaded, Season 3, and beyond, it remains to be seen how the devs handle the rotations.
