Warzone Season 2 Reloaded introduced players to the new Soulrender Melee weapon, and it hasn’t taken long for players to deem it absolutely broken in the battle royale.
The SOA Subverter and the Soulrender Melee weapon were the two new additions to Warzone when the Season 2 Reloaded update arrived on March 6. Players have been hard at work trying to complete the unlock challenges for both weapons.
While the SOA Subverter hasn’t necessarily made waves as a broken weapon after the Season 2 Reloaded update, the same can’t be said for the Soulrender. Powerful Melee weapons are nothing new for CoD fans, as the Gutter Knife and the Karambit have wreaked havoc in MW3 since launch.
With Season 2 Reloaded introducing the first new Melee weapon in MW3, and thus this era of Warzone, players are already voicing their opinions on how broken the Soulrender could be. A montage revealing how quickly the Melee weapon kills hit Reddit with the OP boasting: “I am taking that s**t into Ranked.”
Other players quickly chimed in and mentioned that enemies caught in the animation produced by the Soulrender cannot fire back once it begins: “This thing is broken. You can’t shoot back once the animation starts.”
With enemies not being able to flee once the Soulrender animation begins, one Warzone player described it as a “finishing move from anywhere.”
The Soulrender has already made waves in MW3 with how it easily counters players using Riot Shields, but now it seems players are catching on about its potential in Warzone: “I think the gutter knife is better as a pure melee weapon just because it is so much faster. This might just be in multiplayer though. The Soulrender may do better in WZ where people are tankier.”
The increased health in Warzone could make the Soulrender even better than the Gutter Knife and Karambit. It remains to be seen how the weapon’s potential evolves in Season 2 Reloaded.
