MW3 Season 2 Reloaded is now here, with tons of new content for Modern Warfare Zombies, including new Schematics and key items to obtain. With the update arriving on the mid-season update, Zombies fans were eager for new content, which includes a new Act mission and Dark Aether Rift.
So, here’s a comprehensive guide on everything you need to know about Dark Aether Rifts in MW3 Zombies, including how to get Sigils, and Elder Sigils, as well as both locations for the Rifts.
What are Dark Aether Rifts in MW3 Zombies?
Dark Aether Rifts are MW3 Zombies’ new addition to the MWZ storyline, where players will enter the mysterious Dark Aether. They need special items called Sigils to be activated and opened, and these have a chance to drop when completing contracts in Urzikstan.

To complete the first Dark Aether Rift introduced in MW3 Zombies Season 1, you must complete the Bad Signal Story Mission and head to F6 with a Sigil or Elder Sigil to open it. The second Dark Aether Rift can be unlocked by completing the Countermeasures Story Mission and heading to its F4 location.

How to get Elder Sigil in MW3 Zombies
To get Elder Sigils in MW3 Zombies, you must enter the Dark Aether and complete three Dark Aether Challenges, which are scattered across the entire Uzrikstan map. You can use regular Sigils obtained from contracts to enter the Dark Aether Rifts, or just pack the Elder Sigil obtained from the first one.

Once the MW3 Zombies Elder Sigil is placed in the first Dark Aether Rift, it will turn red.
Elder Sigils grant access to the Dark Aether. However, unlike regular Sigils, they need to be positioned at the portal’s opposite end, at the Rift’s location on the map. Upon entering, expect more challenging enemies and a 15-minute window to navigate and accomplish your objectives.
Keep in mind that completing the required task won’t guarantee receiving an Elder Sigil in the Reward Rifts, as these Sigils are rare drops.
