The Kar98k is one of the most iconic weapons in Warzone history, but is the classic rifle returning to the game after a long absence? Here’s everything you need to know.
Love it or hate it, Warzone players have plenty of memories of the Kar98k dominating the game. After becoming a fan-favorite Marksman Rifle on Verdansk at launch, it also went on to take over the Sniper Rifle category on Caldera during the Vanguard era.
Now, with Rebirth Island returning in Warzone Season 3, fans are wondering if the Kar98k is also making a comeback. Here’s everything you need to know.
Warzone: Is the Kar98k returning?
No, there are currently no official plans for the Kar98k to return to Warzone. The devs have revealed all of the new weapons up to the end of Season 3 and the iconic Sniper is nowhere to be seen, and they’ve remained tight-lipped about the roadmap beyond that.
Given that the Kar made its name on Rebirth Island, the reveal that the OG Resurgence map was coming back in Season 3 gave players some hope that it would also be included. The speculation grew when the official Call of Duty social media accounts started replying to clips of the Kar98k on Rebirth.
However, it later became clear that this was promoting the return of the map itself rather than the fan-favorite weapon. Instead, the MORS Sniper Rifle from Advanced Warfare was the familiar face added to the roster.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that the Kar98k will never be seen in Warzone ever again. The devs continue to embrace the game’s history, with plenty of popular maps, Operators, and guns returning after some time away.
Rumors have hinted that Verdansk will be the battle royale map once CoD 2024 arrives later in the year, so this could be the ideal time to throw some iconic weapons back into the mix. There are also plenty of updates still to go in the MW3 era, so it could easily arrive before then.
However, it’s worth keeping in mind that this is all just speculation for now, so we’ll be sure to update this page with any official announcements once they happen.
