Since Warzone Urzikstan’s release on December 2023, Battle Royale fans have been asking for the player count to be increased. Now, the Warzone devs have finally confirmed that this change will be introduced.
Warzone’s Battle Royale playlists have a completely different style of play than what its Resurgence maps offer. The current BR map, Urzikstan, allows 100 players to dive into a challenging experience, where only the last player or team standing emerges victorious.
However, since the launch of Urzikstan, BR fans have been asking the devs for the player count to be increased. They hoped this would allow for more action despite the slow pace of a large BR map in Warzone.
In a May 28 post on X, Raven Software confirmed that Warzone’s Battle Royale will have 120 players. This is likely set to arrive with the next major update for the game which is Season 4 on May 29, 2024.
Urzikstan’s player count issue intensified after the launch of Warzone Mobile, which featured Verdansk with 120 players. This led PC and console players to demand the same player count for their platforms, arguing that their systems should be able to handle even greater demands than a mobile device.
In its original iteration, Warzone featured 150 players in Verdansk. Later, with the launch of Caldera, the count was reduced to 120 players. Again with Al Mazrah, the amount was increased to 150, but during its lifecycle, it was reduced to just 100 players.
The 100 total player count continued with Urzikstan, despite the complaint. In December 2023, the devs explained that the decision to keep 100 players was to “create an optimal and fun experience based on critical metrics.”
These included time-to-action, map size, new circle timings, match time, red dots, and the second chance mechanics.
However, after more than five months since the player count explanation, the Warzone devs have decided to raise the player count for the Battle Royale playlists.
