Black Ops 6‘s selection of beta maps drew a ton of backlash for being too small and chaotic but with the beta now over, Treyarch have clarified how big all the launch maps are.
The game will have 16 brand-new maps at launch, and we got to try out eight of them with the beta, so we’ll have to wait until the game’s October 25 launch to play the rest.
There are no large maps in Black Ops 6, and with the backlash the beta’s maps received for their size, Treyarch confirmed in a September 9 tweet that “the majority of Black Ops 6’s Core 6v6 maps are medium-sized, similar in size to Raid or Summit.”
Of the 16 maps at launch, there are eight medium, four small, and four Strike maps (even smaller maps built for 2v2 but also feature the 6v6 Face Off mode). You can check them all out here:
- Vault – Medium
- Protocol – Medium
- Lowtown – Medium
- Red Card – Medium

“We know map flow and variety are critical to the best player experience, and we’ve got a great mix of map sizes for Black Ops fans at launch,” Treyarch said.
