The iconic SMG set to return in Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 could be the PPSH-41, according to a new leak. Last week, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 developer Treyarch Studios teased fans by confirming that an “iconic” submachine gun would be coming to the game with the Season 2 update on January 28. While many speculated that the weapon would be the MP40, it looks like it could, in fact, be the PPSH, which was last seen in Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Full details on the next season of Call of Duty have yet to be announced by Treyarch, but it has been confirmed that Season 2 of Black Ops 6 and Warzone begins on Tuesday, January 28. After one of the longest seasons in Call of Duty history, players are eager to check out what’s in store for both Black Ops 6 and Warzone with the upcoming content update. Unfortunately, due to the sheer number of issues with Warzone, publisher Activision has announced that there will be less content than originally planned as the studio intends to prioritize fixes and quality-of-life improvements over new content.
PPSH Potentially Returning in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2
Last week, Treyarch Studios teased the return of an iconic SMG for Black Ops 6 Season 2. In a new blog post discussing the next Zombies map, the studio said that one of the most “iconic” SMGs in Zombies history would be “coming along for the ride.” Fans were quick to theorize that Treyarch was teasing the return of the MP40, but a new leak from data miner HeyImAlaix now has fans under the impression that it could be the PPSH-41. The leaker took to Twitter to reveal that a file name for an upcoming SMG had been discovered. The file, which is named “t10_sm_p41_perth” has led fans to believe that it is for the PPSH-41 due to the file name including “p41.”
Treyarch has yet to confirm which SMG is returning later this month, but with the release date for Black Ops 6 Season 2 fast approaching, fans are expecting to hear more details in the coming days. A recent community update from Activision did briefly touch on what to expect from Black Ops 6 Season 2, stating that there would be “new maps, modes, and rewards” coming on day one. Plus, players can also expect a long list of gameplay improvements and bug fixes, including a new challenge tracker, a separate HUD preset setting for Multiplayer and Zombies, a reduction in teammate collision to improve maneuverability, and much more.
A lot is riding on Season 2, as Call of Duty‘s player count has continued to decline on Steam since the launch of Black Ops 6 in October. While the latest entry in the series was a huge hit at launch, over 50% of players on Steam have stopped playing in recent weeks. While there’s no way to know the exact reason for every player, many believe it is largely due to the current state of Warzone and Black Ops 6‘s Ranked Play modes. With cheaters running rampant and various bugs plaguing Ranked Play, many are eager to see Season 2 make some much-needed changes.
