MW3 players are claiming that a simple fix can solve the teammate visibility issues being intensified by Operator skins.
MW3 doesn’t just feature a huge arsenal of weapons, but the game’s customization even stretches as far as Operator skin collaborations with iconic celebrities such as Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dog, and TV shows like The Boys.
While these collaborations tend to be celebrated, players feel there is an issue with the sheer amount of Operator skins, as it causes confusion when in the midst of a match.
Reddit user ‘Notice-Traditional’ explained the problem on the MW3 subreddit, as they said, “On fast maps like Shipment and Rust, I can’t remember for the life of me whether Paul Atreides, Skeletor, or Nicki Minaj is supposed to be on my team or the enemy’s.”
They aren’t the only ones who feel this way either, as others in the comments also seem to have issues when trying to establish which Operators are on their team. One comment read, “I’m always confused and shoot everything in sight,” while another said, “ALL THE TIME.”
In fact, MW3 players have come up with a way for the devs to solve this issue, suggesting that they implement a highlight system: “At this point with skins I think cod needs to do what other games do and highlight your teammates better. You should be able to see your teammates glowing green or blue through walls and such so you don’t mistake enemies for teammates.”
In agreement, one user said, “Yea they need outlines. There are too many operators per side and similar artstyles per side that identifying teammates from enemies is a pain.”
Some even suggest a way for players to toggle all cosmetics off to help the visibility problem, as one comment read, “I want, so badly, to just be able to toggle all cosmetics off so that teams are wearing matching uniforms again.”
It’s unlikely that the devs will bring such a feature to the game, as it would undermine the money spent by players on Operator skins that they wish to show off in matches. That said, Sledgehammer Games have been very accommodating, so a highlight feature may not be off the cards.
If the devs respond to this issue, we’ll be sure to keep you updated so stay tuned.
