MW3 players call for popular end of match feature to return

MW3 brings players back to the franchise’s roots, but it misses out on one end of match feature from older CoD titles, and players now want to see it return to the game.

Modern Warfare 3 brought many positive changes to its multiplayer, and it’ll continue to improve and add more with every season. It also keeps on bringing neat QoL changes along the way, which fixes minor frustrations for players.

However, it retained the Final Killcam feature from several previous Call of Duty games instead of the Play of the Game feature, which shows the best play from the match instead of a single final kill. Now, players want the Play of the Game feature back.

The missing Play of the Game feature was pointed out by a Reddit user, JoebiWanKenobe, who asked, “What happened to ‘play of the game’?”

The OP highlighted that older CoD games “had ‘play of the game’ instead of just the final Killcam” and asked if there were any plans for “its reintroduction.”

Many chimed in and said the reason for the exclusion was that it was bugged and widely inconsistent: “They removed it because they could never get it to work properly. It would often just show the Killcam that yielded the most score/XP, which was rarely the actual Play of the Game.”

Another user said, “PotG is not in most CoD games. When they try to implement it, it’s usually garbage and just shows a random 5-second clip of nothing. I can’t even remember a well-implemented PotG.”

Some said, while not perfect, Black Ops Cold War did include the feature and was generally spot on, “I thought Cold War did a pretty good job at it.” But plenty were “glad it’s gone” given that it “never worked right anyways.”

Meanwhile, some players still want it to return even if it is inconsistent, “Even if they can’t get the ‘correct’ play of the game it was still nice to generally see a good play and it was good to have that feeling of wonder ‘did I get the play of the game.’”
