MW3 features so many attachment options it’s easy to overlook some that may be of use to you. If you like dropshotting and want a counter against aim-assist, you should think about using this attachment.
Dropshotting is an age-old Call of Duty technique that sees players dropping to the prone position while engaging in a gunfight. This technique has been nerfed over the years, so the accuracy and speed at which you can do it is not what it used to be.
However, Reddit user ‘xoenvious’ has discovered that the bipod attachments can make dropshotting “instant,” but there’s a trick to it.
When using a bipod attachment, you can mount when prone for more accuracy. If you do this transition fast by holding down the prone button and then quickly pressing the mount button when it’s available, you’ll hit the ground instantly.
Once you get the timing down, you’ll feel a drastic difference in speed when dropshotting. The OP estimated that it takes around “255ms” to go from standing to prone with this bipod trick.
The player claims it’s even quicker than using Tactical Pads, which increase stance transition speeds. In fact, if you use Tactical Pads with the bipod trick, you can make dropshotting even faster, as they speed up the mount animation.
After testing it out, the technique definitely works, it’s just hard to pull off consistently, especially on controller. The combination of buttons while being able to stay on target and pull the trigger is not an easy feat, but it’s much easier on mouse and keyboard.
The OP even claims that it “can outmaneuver aim assist,” which makes it even more suited to those who play on mouse and keyboard.
It’s also important to note that you can’t use bipods on certain weapon categories such as SMGs, which does limit the trick. However, if you find yourself using a weapon like the MTZ-556, which the OP was using, or even the meta STG44 that’s currently ripping up Warzone, be sure to give this bipod trick a go.
