Warzone’s maps are always the center of attention in every iteration of Call of Duty’s battle royale, with some maps being fan favorites. So, with Fortune’s Keep return in Season 2, we’ve ranked every big and small map in Warzone, including Verdansk, Rebirth, and more.
The mid-season update for Season 2 is quickly approaching in Warzone, much to the excitement of millions of Call of Duty fans worldwide. Season 2 Reloaded is set to bring two new weapons, SOA Subverter Battle Rifle and Soulrender, a melee weapon.
The devs also brought two new weapons at the time of the Season 2 launch, however, Fortune’s Keep was the talking point, with everyone surprised to see it coming with the Ranked Play.
That said, we’ve ranked every Warzone map so far. Our rankings are, of course, completely subjective as you might enjoy a certain map more than others, making your ranked list look a bit different from ours.

4. Caldera
ActivisionFans’ expectations were let down by the issues that plagued Caldera.
Caldera went live with Warzone Pacific Season 1 on December 6, 2021, and was described as “a paradise for combat on an incredible scale.” Keeping in line with the Pacific theme, Caldera featured a ton of open and green areas, however, the majority of players enjoyed dropping around the Peak, for the high-ground advantage.
Despite the trailers and images depicting the vibrant and open-sight lines, Caldera’s release showed a different picture. There were several visibility issues, with players taking advantage of the bush rat plays, and many struggled to win against enemies on high ground.
It’s also interesting to note that Caldera was replacing Verdansk, Warzone’s OG map, and that can be a challenge by itself, let alone being riddled with issues. So, we’ve put Caldera in the final spot for our list of big maps in Warzone.
3. Urzikstan
ActivisionThe Season 2 update will bring even more content to Urzikstan.
While it might be a little early to judge how well Urzikstan fares against other maps in Warzone, the new map is showing a lot of potential and has been well-received by fans.
Urzikstan is based in Western Asia on the border of the Black Sea, 20% smaller than Al Mazrah, and features 11 major POIs. With the new map featuring classic CoD maps across various locations, along with the return of slide canceling, fans have welcomed the Verdansk vibe in the battle royale.
However, some players are finding Urzikstan’s design a bit complicated compared to the OG map, which is why it didn’t make it to the top spots in our list.
2. Al Mazrah
ActivisionAl Mazrah had plenty of rural and urban areas.
While Caldera and Verdansk were almost identical in terms of their sizes, Al Mazrah became the largest map for the battle royale upon its release with Call of Duty: Warzone 2.
Al Mazrah featured 18 major POIs, mixed with a few classic MW2 maps, and was situated in the Republic of Adal in Western Asia. Unlike Verdansk and Caldera, Al Mazrah featured several rivers going across the Northern and central parts of the map. However, a majority of the map was still a desert with many urban areas.
Al Mazrah also did a great job keeping a high-ground point at the center of the map, in contrast to Caldera. While some fans believe Al Mazrah offered the most diverse POIs and allowed for a great experience, others might not accept any map coming close to our list topper.
1. Verdansk
ActivisionCall of Duty fans long for Verdansk to return.
You might believe that Verdansk takes the best Warzone map crown in our big maps list on nostalgic grounds but there are several reasons behind this map’s success.
Pre-Cold War Verdansk featured unique POIs like the Downtown, with enjoyable Buy Station placements across these locations. There was also an excellent balance of buildings throughout the map, with minimal dead zones.
Additionally, many in the community also feel that positioning, cover, and rotations were the best in Verdansk, allowing for a good flow and pacing in matches. All in all, Verdansk set the tone for every Warzone map to follow, and it’s not a surprise that every long-time fan of the Call of Duty franchise wants to see Verdansk’s return to Warzone.

4. Fortune’s Keep
ActivisionYou can dive into Ranked Play on Fortune’s Keep in Season 2 of Warzone.
Fortune’s Keep had a short stay in Warzone, being removed after a couple of seasons due to Warzone 2 going live. However, the devs reintroduced Fortune’s Keep at the start of Season 2 in Warzone, while also making it the only map available in Ranked Play.
Fortune’s Keep is still significantly larger than the famous Rebirth Island but allows you to constantly engage in combat. However, being a larger map than those before it and having a ton of verticality made the combat pacing slow down from time to time, which is why we’ve put Fortune’s Keep at the bottom spot in our Warzone Resurgence maps list.
3. Ashika Island
ActivisionAshika Island isn’t available in Warzone Season 2 Resurgence.
Ashika Island made its way into Warzone with the battle royale’s second iteration and has been a part of the game ever since. The island is located somewhere in the Asia Pacific region and is significantly bigger than Rebirth while being slightly smaller than Fortune’s Keep.
Ashika Island was received well by the Call of Duty community, with many enjoying the constant gunfights and design of the map. The visual aesthetics, apart from the lack of vibrancy, and environment are also on point in Ashika, and it could easily be second on our list, largely due to the open areas allowing you to play aggressively or carry long-range weapons.
2. Vondel
ActivisionVondel is available in Resurgence Quads in Warzone Season 2.
Vondel is the biggest Resurgence map in Warzone, and was labeled as a medium-sized map by the devs as its “footprint is between Al Mazrah and Ashika Island.” It was inspired by the waterfront district of a Baroque European city, and many in the community were quick to point out the similarities between the POIs on this map and the city of Amsterdam.
Compared to the bigger maps, Vondel enables you to play a lot more aggressively and the buildings on the map are reminiscent of those on Verdansk, allowing you to navigate the rooftops easily.
There’s no doubt that Vondel’s our top pick for Resurgence maps in the new era of Warzone.
1. Rebirth Island
ActivisionCall of Duty fans regard Rebirth Island as one of the best maps of all time in Warzone.
Rebirth Island was the smallest map but tops our list of best Resurgence maps in Warzone, largely due to how quickly you dove into action, alongside the close-quarters combat leading to multiple kills in quick succession.
The island was once a Soviet base, later shut down by the CIA, and using the incredible movement mechanics during the first iteration of Warzone, you could consistently outplay your enemies and lay waste to them.
With a majority of Warzone fans enjoying it so much, Activision has confirmed that Rebirth Island will make a return in 2024.
