A Warzone Battle Rifle that was once a popular long-range choice has returned to the meta in a different capacity for Season 4.
Meta weapons come and go in Call of Duty: Warzone, as the devs are constantly buffing and nerfing guns with updates throughout the season.
Powerful weapons are often nerfed after a long period of dominance, but if they’re lucky, they will get their time in the sun again. After patiently waiting, the SOA Subverter has seemingly trickled back into the meta after being one of the most popular long-range options when it arrived in Season 2.
After a nerf in Season 3, it’s returned to the meta in a different capacity, as it’s now a great mid-range option in Warzone Season 4, especially when using our best SOA Subverter loadout.
Attachments such as the 7.62x51mm High Grain Rounds and Dozer-90 Long Barrel will increase the weapon’s mid-range TTK. Then, the Casus Brake L Muzzle paired with the Bruen Heavy Support Grip makes the weapon easier to control, which in turn allows you to hit more shots.
I found the weapon much easier to control with these attachments, and although it’s not the best option for long-range fights, its fast TTK for medium-range encounters makes it a top pick in Season 4.
In fact, even popular Warzone content creator WhosImmortal has named the SOA Subverter in his top 5 best TTK meta loadouts video in Warzone Season 4.
When talking about the SOA Subverter, WhosImmortal said it “used to be the number 1 go-to long-range option, that’s not what this is anymore, in fact, this is basically a mid-ranged beast.”
The popular content creator describes the weapon as “easy to use” and recommends that players focus on using the weapon in its effective damage range, as its TTK is one of the fastest in the game so long as you use it in the “20, 30, 40” meter range.
It’s definitely worth a try if you’re looking for a weapon that can dominate these ranges. It’s especially effective on maps like Rebirth Island, where you’ll find these mid-ranged engagements happen a lot more often.
