The team behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone has removed a UI feature first implemented during the games’ Season 4 update, after the player base ignited backlash responding to the controversial addition. Black Ops 6 was first launched in October 2024, after a stellar propaganda marketing campaign got fans of the FPS series hyped for its arrival, and the free-to-play battle royale FPS, Warzone, has been on the market since 2020.
Black Ops 6 was free to play through Multiplayer and Zombies to celebrate the release of Season 4, but this was a limited-time offer that expired on June 3. Warzone recently deployed a patch for June, which introduced a host of fixes for players. Crashes and performance issues were targeted, eradicating several collision bugs and UI glitches, including stuttering during high-octane matches and further problems plaguing Ranked Play.

Ahead of its launch this week, Call of Duty publisher Activision reveals the official Season 4 Battle Pass rewards for Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
Posted on Twitter by CODUpdates, an announcement was shared with the community noting that a UI feature test, which “surfaces select store content in the Loadout menus,” was added to the Season 4 update “in error” and has now been removed. Black Ops 6 and Warzone’s Season 4 update went live at the end of May, with some of the highlights being three new Multiplayer maps in Black Ops 6 and the brand-new POI to check out in Downtown in Warzone, but the new UI ads feature that this post is referring to was not well received.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Removes UI Ads Feature
Black Ops 6 and Warzone players had a lot to say about the now-removed UI feature, labeling it as “intrusive,” and the player base is also hitting back at the developer for calling the feature an “error.” A majority of players’ social media comments questioned why the team was supposedly lying to fans, pointing out that the feature was not an error, but instead an intentional test that backfired. Drawing attention to a lighter response, one fan agreed the error comment was a joke, but stated they were glad to see the team responding to feedback.
On a more positive note, fans of the popular shooter have a new event to look forward to in June, and one Call of Duty leaker recently revealed the in-game rewards for Black Ops 6 and Warzone‘s Ballerina event. Based on the upcoming action thriller film of the same name, serving as the fifth entry in the John Wick franchise, the CoD event will run between June 5 and June 12 and will reportedly offer players ten rewards alongside a weapon blueprint for Blackcell owners, if the leaks are to be trusted.
