Call of Duty Fans Seem to Be More Excited for Black Ops 7 Than They Were For Black Ops 6

Summary

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 trailer views have surpassed Black Ops 6 in just 24 hours.
  • The upcoming shooter has already accumulated more than 28 million views in just one day.
  • Black Ops 6’s first trailer only garnered 19 million views in a full year.

The hype for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 appears to be far greater than its predecessor, as the upcoming shooter’s trailer views have far surpassed Black Ops 6‘s in just 24 hours. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was revealed to the world over the weekend during the Xbox Games Showcase, and while the next entry in the series has yet to confirm a release date, excitement for the Black Ops 2 sequel appears to already be at an all-time high.

While the event may have lacked any Hollow Knight: Silksong, Forza Horizon 6, or The Elder Scrolls 6, there were plenty of surprises at the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase. Not only did Bethesda reveal a new DLC for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the hour-long event also gave fans their first look at the ROG Xbox Ally X, a new handheld device that will launch later this year. However, Xbox closed the show with a big surprise for Call of Duty fans when the very first trailer for Black Ops 7 was revealed. Most fans were left stumped by the mind-bending trailer right up until the game’s title appeared, but it looks like the hype for the next Call of Duty game is already through the roof.

Black Ops 7’s First Trailer Has Already Surpassed Black Ops 6’s

There’s no firm release date for the next Call of Duty game just yet, but there’s a strong chance it will stick with tradition and launch in late October/early November. But despite the fact that the shooter is still likely a good four or five months away, hype appears to be at an all-time high. In just 24 hours, the worldwide reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has already accumulated over 28 million views. For comparison, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6‘s reveal trailer, which is now one year old, has only racked up 19 million views. The drastic difference seems to show that Call of Duty fans are far more excited for Black Ops 7 than they were for its predecessor, which only launched in October 2024.

Marketing for the next Call of Duty title has barely even begun, but if the game’s first trailer is anything to go by, it could be a big few months for fans of the series. Some are even speculating that a full reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will take place on June 20. Although a “reveal” has already taken place, it merely consisted of a cinematic trailer. However, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that the trailer features the date of June 20, 2025, which has led to speculation that a potential gameplay reveal could occur later this month.

Unfortunately, fans will need to wait until next week to see if their theory is correct. In the meantime, Activision is giving Call of Duty players the chance to nab an exclusive Black Ops 7 Calling Card to use in Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Players simply need to respond to Call of Duty‘s tweet with their Activision ID and they will be rewarded with an exclusive Black Ops 7-themed Calling Card. The cosmetic item will be added to players’ inventories with the game’s Season 4 Reloaded update, which is expected to launch later this month.
