The latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 update appears to be causing a major issue for some players, as Season 5 Reloaded is completely deleting the game from some users’ systems, forcing them to redownload nearly 100 GB of data. This isn’t the first time a new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone has resulted in players being forced to redownload files they already had; however, it seems to be for a good reason this time around.
With Season 5 now at the halfway point, Activision has officially released the big mid-season refresh for Call of Duty, otherwise known as Season 5 Reloaded. The update is available to download now for Black Ops 6 and Warzone, bringing a ton of new content to both titles. For Warzone fans, the update has finally opened up Stadium, which means the building’s interior will now be accessible every match. There’s also a new event, a brand-new limited-time mode known as Deadline, and more. As for Black Ops 6, Season 5 Reloaded brings a new 6v6 multiplayer map to the game, a new scorestreak, plenty of new and returning game modes, and much more.
Black Ops 6 Update Is Deleting the Game for Some Players
Prior to the update’s release, it was revealed that Season 5 Reloaded was going to reduce the overall file size of Call of Duty by more than 100 GB. As reported by GameSpot, the update has indeed seen a drastic reduction in the game’s size, but it has come with a pretty big headache for many users, as fans on PlayStation 5 are reportedly being required to redownload game packs after the initial Season 5 Reloaded download. Although it means downloading nearly 100 GB of data, the overall size of the pack will only occupy 27 GB on the console after it is installed.
It’s unclear why players on PlayStation 5 are forced to redownload entire packs to reduce the overall file size, but Activision is compensating Call of Duty players for downloading the Season 5 Reloaded update. The studio recently confirmed that it will be gifting players a pack of 2XP Tokens across all platforms. For players to acquire five 1-hour Double Player XP tokens, five 1-hour Double Weapon XP tokens, and five 1-hour Double Battle Pass XP tokens, they simply need to download the update and log into Call of Duty from 10 AM PT on September 4 until October 1.
Activision also noted that the reorganization of game files is to prepare for the Black Ops 7 open beta, which will take place in October. Those who have already pre-ordered the next entry in the series will be granted early access to the beta from October 2, while all other players will be able to jump in from October 5. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will then be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on November 14.
