Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is Free to Play For a Limited Time

Summary

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is free to play Multiplayer and Zombies until June 3.
  • Season 4 introduces three new multiplayer maps.
  • Discounts are available on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation Store for interested gamers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has gone free-to-play from now until June 3 as a way for Treyarch to celebrate the recent release of Season 4. For a limited time, gamers who don’t own Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be able to enjoy its Multiplayer and Zombies offerings, although the campaign remains paid during this period.

Assuming the Call of Duty series follows its typical release model as seems likely, Black Ops 6 is approximately halfway through its life cycle. Throughout that time, Treyarch has released tons of new content through the usual seasonal model, with Season 4 being the latest. Black Ops 6‘s Season 4 has made some controversial changes, although it also freshens up the experience with three new multiplayer maps.

Gamers interested in checking out Call of Duty: Black Ops 6‘s Season 4 content will be picking a good time to get involved. Steam currently has the game at a 45% discount for PC players, bringing it down to $38.49. It’s the same price on the PlayStation Store, too, with both platforms offering these deals until after the free trial ends. Over on Xbox, the base game is still full price, although the Black Ops 6 Vault Edition is down to $64.99 from $99.99, with no time publicly available for how long it will last.

With Black Ops 6 estimated to be halfway through its life cycle, the attention naturally turns to this year’s currently unannounced Call of Duty title. It’s not clear what to expect from Call of Duty 2025 at this point, although the prevailing rumor at this point suggests that the game is going to be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2, which will be great news to those who loved that particular title. This should be taken with a pinch of salt, though, and concrete news will hopefully be fully revealed sooner rather than later.
