Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Extends Controversial ‘High Art’ Event

Summary

  • Call of Duty’s High Art event has been extended to May 22.
  • The event was due to end on May 15, but the in-game countdown has now been extended by one week.
  • Fans have blasted the High Art event due to Activision’s “obsession” with weed-themed cosmetics.

Developer Treyarch Studios has extended the controversial High Art event in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. The event was initially scheduled to come to an end this week, on May 15, but the in-game event tab now shows the new end date for the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone event as May 22, meaning players have an extra week to level up the Event Pass.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has had multiple crossover events since its launch in October last year. The first major event launched in January when Call of Duty collaborated with Netflix’s Squid Game. Unfortunately, it was met with a myriad of controversies, as fans blasted the introduction of the Premium Event Passes. While there was a free option for players to partake in, players were angered over the inclusion of yet another microtransaction. The overall price of some of the skins included in the event was also met with controversy, as the community felt the overall cost of the event was far too expensive.

According to one of Call of Duty’s founding members, the franchise has, in some ways, followed the same path as The Simpsons in recent years.

Fans have also blasted Call of Duty’s new High Art event, this time due to Activision’s “obsession” with weed. Despite the controversy, it looks like the event will be sticking around for a little longer, as the in-game event tab has been adjusted with a new end date. The High Art event was initially set to end on Thursday, May 15, but it now looks to be coming to a close on Thursday, May 22. This means players have an extra week to level up the Event Pass and unlock all of the available rewards.

When Does The Call of Duty High Art Event End?

  • Call of Duty’s High Art event will now end on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

The new High Art event in Black Ops 6 not only added a new Event Pass for players to level up but also introduced some brand-new limited-time modes to both Multiplayer and Warzone. The modes, such as High Trip Resurgence, overhauled existing modes with some trippy new features, such as power-ups, super speed, and no fall damage. With the event being extended by an extra week, these limited-time modes may also be sticking around for a little longer, but Treyarch has yet to reveal if that will be the case.

After a disappointing Season 3 Reloaded update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone, fans are eager to find out more about the game’s next season. While Season 3 was massively successful, especially for Warzone as it brought back the iconic Verdansk, the game’s mid-season update seems to have disappointed players as it introduced numerous bugs and saw multiple hackers and cheaters return to the Battle Royale title.
