Call of Duty publisher Activision has announced the Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 3 has been delayed and will now launch on Thursday, April 3. The highly anticipated content update for both Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone is shaping up to be one of its biggest yet, which is why Activision says it needs to take the extra time to deliver a great experience for players.
The next season of Call of Duty was supposed to be just a matter of weeks away, as Black Ops 6 and Warzone recently received their mid-season updates for Season 2. While Black Ops 6 players were treated to new maps, modes, and more, the same sadly couldn’t be said for Warzone fans. Prior to the launch of Season 2, Activision shared bad news for the shooter’s community as it announced that Warzone would have less content than initially expected in the update. When the season rolled around, Warzone players only had a new perk to check out, but Activision says this was to prioritize gameplay tuning, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements.

Activision Delays Call of Duty Season 3
With Season 2 being pretty lackluster for the Warzone community, Activision is supposedly planning to make Call of Duty Season 3 a memorable one. Unfortunately, the studio has confirmed via the official Call of Duty Twitter account that the game’s next season will now launch on April 3, two weeks later than originally expected. In its statement, Activision said that Season 3 “is a big moment for Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops 6,” which is why it has decided to take the extra time to deliver something great on April 3. Activision went on to reveal that more details on Season 3 will be shared following Call of Duty: Warzone‘s fifth anniversary next week.
Call of Duty has already launched a special Verdansk merch collection to celebrate Warzone‘s fifth anniversary, which will take place on March 10, but it looks like even more big news could be on the way. While Activision has already confirmed that Verdansk (the game’s original Battle Royale map) will be returning in Spring 2025, the studio has yet to announce a firm release date. However, given the copious number of leaks and rumors, the map seems to be set to return with the launch of Season 3, which is likely why Activision is referring to the upcoming content update as a “big moment” for the series.
One of the most recent leaks surrounding the next season of Call of Duty claimed some iconic Modern Warfare operators and weapons would be returning to Warzone. Each new mainline Call of Duty entry is fully integrated with Warzone, which means weapons and operators from previous entries are at risk of being removed from the free-to-play title. While fans can currently use Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, and Black Ops 6 weapons within Warzone, any content from 2019’s Modern Warfare is unavailable. But if recent leaks are to be believed, operators such as Roze and Mace could be making a comeback with Verdansk, alongside the Grau 5.56 Assault Rifle and HDR Sniper Rifle.
